[Everybody likes prizes. Even grumps like Ronan that don't like phones can't manage to be annoyed at the texts that pop up on his device. If nothing else, Matt is a magic user offering him a favor, so he already has the teen's interest. And well, he had rather enjoyed the gala, too. So it's a good association.]
sure go through the spiel. there was a lot going on at the gala so ill admit I was a bit distracted but I did think your charms sounded pretty badass.
[This is actually an improvement for Ronan. If Blue were in this place, she'd probably be smirking victoriously right about now. Back home magic had been a thorny subject for him. But that was largely tied to complicated feelings about his own magic, and as weird as this place was, he's been figuring things out.]
okay so, the way I define them, charms are basically enchanted objects that gain personal significance/resonance by being worn next to the skin
they can do any number of things and take any number of forms. popular ones are jewelry, sachets, clothing items
In terms of effects, see above re: any number. Traditional amulets did things like provide good luck or protection to the bearer. I do love those, and I recommend them in general, but I've also created charms with other effects. Invisibility, emotional centering, energy, that kind of thing
i was thinking jewelry but satchets sound cool- those are little bags of herbs or stuff right?
I was thinking protection but how do the other ones work? like if it was something for energy? do you think its possible to do something with two pieces that are connected? or I dunno you said you had examples right?
and ✔️ you can combine effects but normally the effects have to be pretty congruent
✔️ I do have some examples, hang on
[ Oh hey, incoming video message. Most of what's visible is a pair of hands--long, mobile fingers and smooth skin--and a small faceted object in blue, purple, and green that resembles a fidget spinner. Matt starts to spin it. From off-camera, his voice says: ]
So this one is for emotional stability and centering? And then this ...
[ The fidget spinner is set aside, and a silver bracelet appears. ]
Is invisibility, so I just slip it on and--
[ Matt unclasps the bracelet and slips it on. As soon as he closes it, his wrists, hands, and the bracelet all disappear. ]
